Yoga Exercises for Beginners

If you still haven’t gotten started in yoga since you don’t know which exercises you can make at home then don’t worry, below we’ll provide you a list of the yoga exercises you can start with.

Initial relaxation

At the beginning of the yoga class, the person is lying on their back in relaxation posture and breathing deeply before being guided (can also be done alone) through the active relaxation, during which each part of the body is first contracted then relaxed. An ideal start for every yoga class – This combination of deep breathing and active relaxation will help in calming the mind as well as dissolving bodily tensions.

Intermediate relaxation

Between two postures, the person relaxes in his yoga class (or at home) while lying on his back, in this posture of relaxation. The person can then breathe deeply so as to feel the positive effects of the exercise he did previously.

Exercises for the legs

Separate Leg Exercises – This is not a classic yoga posture, but a leg stretch that is prepared for yoga postures.

Exercise for both legs together – This is a strengthening of the abdominals, which then allows to hold the postures longer.

Posture on the shoulders

This Yoga Asana is an inverted position, which increases the flow of blood to the brain.

This posture exerts a gentle pressure on the neck, which activates the functions of the thyroid gland and therefore the metabolism.

Fish Posture

Yoga Fish Pose

The person will breathe deeply when he performs this yoga exercise (Asana) which will increase his lung capacity. Many respiratory problems are improved. The thyroid gland is energized and the upper back flexibility is improved by this yoga posture.

Bending front seat

This posture stretches the entire back of the body, increasing lumbar flexibility and improving back posture. This Asana also massages the abdominal organs and thus relieves constipation.

This is the last posture of before ending your session if you are in a class or even at home. This posture requires lateral bending of the body. All the back muscles are stretched, contracted and relaxed. The spine will thus become more flexible.

Final Relaxation Exercise

Here is the best moment of the yoga class when all the effects of the yoga sequence manifest themselves in these 10 to 15 minutes. Through active relaxation (contraction and relaxation of muscles), deep breathing and visualization exercise, deep relaxation can operate on three levels: physical relaxation, mental relaxation and spiritual relaxation.

What you’ve learned so far

The yoga postures which are also called “Asanas” and the specific sequence of yogic exercises are particularly appropriate in untying all tensions in the body. Yoga postures can relax a person by a series of contractions and systematic stretching. This results in deep relaxation.

You have now learnt a full beginner’s course and some of the health effects of each yoga posture. Ideally, the person should learn the postures from an experienced teacher but it is also possible to practice all the above postures at home.

You can practice all these postures at home alone, however don’t push your body if you feel you cannot do a posture, you will be able to do it gradually.
